About Jarosch Bakery

Jarosch Bakery has been an Elk Grove Village institution since 1959, serving generations of customers with scratch made cakes, cookies, pastries, breads, and other baked goods. As a longtime local business with a recognizable brand and deep roots in the community, Jarosch needed packaging that could evolve without losing the familiar identity customers had known for decades.

As the bakery entered a new chapter with new management and prepared to move into its new building, the team saw an opportunity to freshen its packaging alongside the business itself. The goal was not to replace the classic Jarosch look. It was to preserve what customers recognized while making the packaging more efficient for the people using it every day.

Challenges Faced by Jarosch Bakery

Before developing the new carton, Rigali took a hands on approach. Members of the Rigali team visited the original Jarosch Bakery and conducted a ROPA assessment with key leaders to better understand how packaging moved through the bakery’s daily operation.

One of the biggest pain points quickly became clear. The existing 14 inch bakery cartons required employees to manually fold and lock six corners before they could be used. Preparing enough cartons for daily service meant spending hours assembling boxes in advance.

Once assembled, those cartons also needed somewhere to go. They occupied valuable floor, storage, and counter space inside a busy bakery where every square foot mattered. The challenge was bigger than improving the appearance of a box. Jarosch needed a custom bakery packaging solution that could improve workflow without sacrificing the iconic presentation customers associated with the brand.

Rigali’s Solution for Jarosch Bakery

Rigali redesigned the carton around the way Jarosch actually operates.

The team maintained the recognizable 14 inch format and classic character of the Jarosch bakery box while updating the branding to better align with the bakery’s next chapter. Behind that familiar appearance, Rigali made a significant structural improvement by transitioning the carton to an autolocking six corner design.

Instead of employees spending hours folding and locking cartons before service, the new folding cartons can be stored efficiently near the bakery counter. When a box is needed, an employee can quickly pop it open, fill it, and move on to the next order.

The result is packaging that still looks and feels like Jarosch, but works significantly better for the team behind the counter.

The project also grew beyond the original 14 inch carton. Rigali brought Jarosch’s one pound and half pound cookie boxes into the updated packaging system, creating a more unified brand story across multiple products.

Outcome for Jarosch Bakery

The redesigned bakery cartons transformed a repetitive daily task into a much simpler process. Hours previously dedicated to preassembling cartons were eliminated, assembled boxes no longer consumed valuable floor and counter space, and employees gained packaging they could prepare on demand during service.

At the same time, Jarosch maintained the recognizable packaging presence its customers already knew. The refreshed graphics and coordinated cookie boxes gave the bakery a more consistent brand presentation while respecting the history behind the Jarosch name.

Rigali’s support continues beyond the carton itself. As two Elk Grove Village businesses, Rigali and Jarosch have developed an ongoing local partnership that includes weekly warehousing and delivery. Rigali can maintain packaging inventory for Jarosch and deliver it as needed, helping the bakery dedicate more of its own space to serving customers and producing the baked goods it is known for.

This project represents the value of looking beyond the box itself. Through ROPA, custom folding carton design, structural improvements, inventory support, and local delivery, Rigali helped Jarosch create a packaging system built around its brand and its operation.

The finished carton preserves an Elk Grove Village classic while making the everyday process behind it faster, cleaner, and more efficient.
